Peter Grace Mukisa

Founder & Executive Director
Peter is the founding director and formed the organization in 2011 as a Community-Based Organization. It was later transitioned to Guaranteed by Limitorship and now is one of very few NGOs in the country. Peter began his life wandering the streets of Kampala and joined the Ugandan Red Cross at 16 years. Through service he recognized the plight of homeless children with no money to go on. He began selecting homeless children off of the streets and adopting them. Peter has been communicating with westerners and building the donor base for 12 years now and has made Rescue the Poor the beacon of hope in an impoverished world. Peter is married to Sarah and has a 1-year-old baby Craig.

Dennis Okumu

Board Member
Dennis met Peter at 20 years of age at church and quickly struck up a lifelong friendship. Like Peter, Dennis has always had the desire to help little children to have life and hope and to reach their full potential. Dennis taught the children at home during the time of Covid and lived with them in the village of Kakiri in very meager circumstances until the move to Entebbe. He is currently a section leader and outreach coordinator at Watoto Church Entebbe and is attending Victoria University to pursue a degree in nonprofit management and child development. But most days he spends at the Children’s home between classes.
